9T Capacity Rail Transfer Cart With Roller Conveyor Transport

September 5, 2026

As material handling evolves toward larger scales, automation, and intelligent manufacturing, production workshops are demanding higher standards for the operational efficiency, positioning accuracy, and automation levels of material transfer equipment. To address the need for transferring materials between different production stages, we customized a 9-ton automated rail-guided transfer cart. Designed primarily for material transfer between automated conveyor lines, it enables the automatic transport and precise docking of aluminum alloy profiles and frame-mounted workpieces.

The cart measures approximately 4000 × 6500 × 500 mm and has a designed operating speed of 20 m/min. It utilizes a low-voltage rail power supply and incorporates technologies such as PLC-based automatic control and a dual-positioning system (combining encoders and photoelectric sensors). These features allow the cart to seamlessly integrate into the client's existing automated production lines, ensuring continuous and efficient material transfer.

Large-Format Platform Design
This vehicle features a large platform measuring 4000 × 6500 mm. The spacious load-bearing platform provides ample room for large aluminum alloy profiles mounted on frames, and the design can be tailored to the specific structure of the materials and the layout of the production line.

For such large components, traditional manual handling is not only inefficient but also constrained by spatial limitations and the size of the workpieces. Automated transfer via rail-guided carts reduces manual labor and ensures stable material movement between workstations along a predefined route.

Automated Docking with the Production Line
A key design feature of this project is the integration of a conveyor system directly onto the cart's platform. Depending on the client's specific production line requirements, the cart can be equipped with either a roller or chain conveyor mechanism. This allows the cart to go beyond simple "mobile transport" and actively participate in material handovers between production line segments.

Once the cart reaches a designated workstation, its platform conveyor mechanism interfaces with the fixed conveyor line to automatically transfer the frame-mounted aluminum alloy profiles to the next stage of production. After the transfer is complete, the cart follows control system commands to return to its starting point or proceed to the next work location.

Low-Voltage Rail Power Supply
This transfer cart utilizes a low-voltage rail power supply system, drawing the necessary operating energy through contact between the rails and the cart's sliding power collectors. Compared to traditional manual handling methods, this cart operates reliably along fixed routes and is well-suited for integration with automated production lines.

In production scenarios requiring transport between multiple workstations, the cart's automatic control system ensures continuous, stable operation.
Furthermore, the cart's travel route can be tailored to the specific layout of the customer's workshop, allowing the equipment to adapt effectively to various factory structures and production line configurations.

The rail transfer cart project exported here represents a custom-designed automated transport solution for large-scale mold production. By combining features such as low-voltage rail power, PLC automatic control, dual positioning (via encoders and photoelectric sensors), roller or chain conveyance, and automatic docking, the system achieves seamless automation across the entire process—from material loading and rail transport to handover at the production line.
